This self-paced, on-demand, online course provides in depth professional learning for teachers new to HSC Biology and also experienced teachers seeking further development around Genetic Change.
During this course, participants will:
- Learn the content for HSC Biology Module 6, so they in turn will be able to best teach Genetic Change and support student learning:
- Mutation
- Biotechnology
- Genetic Technologies
- Learn a variety of modelling techniques for Genetic Change
- Learn common student misconceptions in Genetic Change and how to avoid or overcome them
- Acquire appropriate and varied pedagogies for Genetic Change
- Receive resources you can use with your students

Course Delivered by Lauren Hesse
Lauren Hesse is passionate about education and working with both students and teachers to improve their understanding of themselves as learners. She has eleven years teaching experience and has taught students from diverse social backgrounds, with a range of different abilities. Lauren works at Hunter School of Performing Arts in Newcastle, where she teaches Biology and Science Extension. She has extensive marking experience in Biology, including as a Senior Marker. Lauren is excited to share her experiences and skills with teachers and students through our professional learning workshops.
