This course is aimed at helping Stage 6 physics teachers unpack the new Physics Stage 6 Syllabus. On this course we will be examining the course structure requirements, assessment and reporting requirements, practical requirements, depth studies, similar content with the outgoing syllabus, new content, unfamiliar content, and Year 11 content important for Year 12. In particular, we will unpack the physics behind the new content of Thermodynamics, Waves and Electric Circuits.

This course is best done in conjunction with Experiments for the New Physics Stage 6 Syllabus.

This course is most appropriate for a region, cluster or community of schools. Please contact us and fill out the expression of interest form if your organisation is interested in arranging or hosting.

This course addresses the following National Professional Standards for Teachers:
1.5.2 Develop teaching activities that incorporate differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities.
2.3.2 Design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements.
5.1.2 Develop, select and use informal and formal, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning.
7.4.2 Participate in professional and community networks and forums to broaden knowledge and improve practice.

Registered Hours

Completing CrookED Science’s Unpacking the New Physics Stage 6 Syllabus on 2nd March 2018 will contribute 5 hours of QTC Registered PD, addressing 1.5.2; 2.3.2; 5.1.2; and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
