With the arrival of the new Stage 6 Physics Syllabus, we have created a course, Hands-on Engagement for Stage 6 Physics, to empower Stage 6 physics teachers with providing their students with novel hands-on experiences and experiments to engage them in their study of physics.
Delegates will in engage in a carousel of achievable, innovative and hands-on physics experiments designed to provide rich opportunities for learning in a high school setting. The activities incorporated will cover those pertinent to the new syllabus, paying particular attention to learning opportunities in the Depth Studies.
Australian Professional Teaching Standards
This course addresses the following National Professional Standards for Teachers:
1.2.2 Structure teaching programs using research and collegial advice about how students learn.
2.1.2 Apply knowledge of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area to develop engaging teaching activities.
3.4.2 Select and/or create and use a range of resources, including ICT, to engage students in their learning.
6.4.2 Undertake professional learning programs designed to address identified student learning needs.
Completing Programming for Hands-on Engagement for Stage 6 Physics will contribute 5 hours of QTC Registered PD addressing 1.2.2, 2.1.2, 3.4.2, 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
